Palm Pixi Processor, Chipset Details Emerge

Palm Pixi

Palm Pixi

Engadget reports that Qualcomm has come out with the official specs for the Palm Pixi’s processor chipset.  It’s using the MSM7627 chipset. The chipset packs two ARM cores on a single chip, including one dedicated 600MHz applications processor, and a separate 400MHz modem processor.

Like the Pre, the Pixi also supports hardware-accelerated 3D graphics, with an OpenGL 2.0-supporting 200MHz GPU – so there should be plenty of capability there for Pixi gaming.

The phone will support CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev. A, UMTS HSDPA 7.2Mbps/HSUPA 5.76Mbps, and GSM. The 320 MHz DSP supports full 30 fps WVGA-resolution video encoding/decoding, OpenGL 2.0 high-rez camera, and an integrated GPS chip. The chipset is optimized for lower power consumption.
